Report: Steelers Interviewed ex-Browns, Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson for Offensive Coordinator Position

The Pittsburgh Steelers interviewed former NFL head coach Hue Jackson for their offensive coordinator position earlier this week, according to a report by Dianna Russini of ESPN.

The team decided to not renew the contract of 2020 offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner on Thursday and it was reported by multiple media outlets on Saturday that quarterbacks coach Matt Canada will be promoted to offensive coordinator for 2021.

The team has not made an official announcement of the hiring, with the delay reportedly due to a desire to also hire an offensive line coach.

Jackson, 55, has not coached since the 2018 season, when he was a special assistant to Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. He was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2016-18 and the Oakland Raiders in 2011, amassing an 11-44-1 record as an NFL head coach.

Jackson was an offensive coordinator with the Bengals from 2014-15, the Raiders in 2010, the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 and the Washington Redskins in 2003, and at the collegiate level with USC from 1997-2000 and Cal in 1996.
