Star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is now a Los Angeles Ram, but the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly made a last-ditch attempt snatch up the former division foe.

According to NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh made a late run at the former Pro Bowler, but Beckham Jr. was simply to far along in his decision making process for the Steelers to have had a legitimate shot.

Wide receiver has quickly gone from a position of depth to one of weakness for the Steelers after injuries to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool. The former suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, while the latter is considered week-to-week with a toe ailment.

Pittsburgh’s interest in Beckham Jr. not only signals the severity of Claypool’s injury, but also the wide-open nature of the AFC and the team’s eagerness to capitalize on it.

While Beckham Jr. has had a very productive career, he was sparsely used in Cleveland. He caught just 114 passes for 1,586 yards and seven scores in 29 games with the Browns.

He was selected to three-straight Pro Bowls to begin his career, but has battled injuries and inconsistency since.
