The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly re-signed cornerback Cameron Sutton on a two-year, $9 million deal, according to multiple reports.

Sutton’s return is crucial considering the age of starting corners Steven Nelson and Joe Haden and the reality that they may lose starting slot corner Mike Hilton this free agency cycle.

Selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, Sutton has been a significant contributor for the Steelers over the last two seasons. He made six starts a season ago, demonstrating his ability to play both outside and in the slot.

Sutton has tallied 73 total tackles, 17 passes defended and three interceptions over four years.

The re-signing of Sutton is an important step for a Steelers defense looking to remain one of the league’s best.
