Report: Steelers to Hire former Bears Scouting Director Mark Sadowski

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to hire former Chicago Bears director of scouting Mark Sadowski, according to report by Inside the League, as the team continues to remake its front office under new general manager Omar Khan.

Sadowski was dismissed as the Bears’ college scouting director in May, a position he had held since 2016. A Chicago native, Sadowski first started with the Bears in 2005. He got his NFL start before that with the New Orleans Saints.

It’s not clear exactly what role Sadowski will fill with the Steelers. The team has already hired Andy Weidl from the Philadelphia Eagles as assistant manager, Sheldon White as director of pro scouting and promoted Dan Colbert to director of college scouting. Dan Rooney Jr., the team’s player personnel coordinator, is expected to continue with the team and former general manager Kevin Colbert is expected to have some type of advisory role.

There also have been several departures since Khan’s promotion was announced. Brandon Hunt, the team’s former director of pro scouting and fellow finalist to replace Colbert as general manager, is leaving for a job with the Eagles.

Senior college scout Rick Reprish and college scout Bruce McNorton have also left the club to pursue other opportunities.

College scouting coordinator Phil Kreidler, football administration coordinator Cole Marcoux and scouts Mark Bruener, Mike Butler, Kelvin Fisher, Mark Gorscak, Chidi Iuowma, Dave Petitt, Dennis MacInnis all currently remain on the team’s football operations staff roster.

Through the promotion of Khan and with Colbert staying on in an advisory role, the Steelers will likely have a lot of continuity from their old front office to the new one, but the team is also looking to bring in new blood from outside the organization like Sadowski, Weidl and White.
