Coaching veteran who has also been a defensive backs coach at schools such as South Carolina and Louisville.
Brown’s coaching career spans nearly two decades, but the last year has been an interesting one to say the least.
Brown was hired as the University of Houston’s cornerbacks coach just ten days ago on Feb. 3. He joined the Cougars after spending the previous year as McNeese State’s defensive coordinator, who did not playing during the fall season. Brown has not coached a game since the 2019 season as Old Dominion’s co-defensive coordinator.
He had also made previous stops at Louisville, Alabama State, Birmingham Southern, South Carolina, Southern Miss, LSU, Texas Southern and his alma mater, Alabama A&M. He has been an NFL coaching intern with the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Brown was a defensive back at Alabama A&M from 1995-98 and went on to play in the Arena Football League.
Brown replaces former defensive backs coach Tom Bradley, whose contract the Steelers did not renew back on Jan. 14.
