The Steelers are re-signing outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi to their active roster after he was released by the Tennessee Titans earlier this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Adeniyi was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent the 2018 through 2020 seasons with the team before leaving in free agency for the Titans. During his time with the Steelers, Adeniyi put up 25 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in a special teams role. He likely slots into their lineup now as a special teams boost and rotational edge rusher.

During his two seasons in Tennessee, Adeniyi racked up 2.5 sacks. He only played three games this season after being placed on injured reserve with a neck injury. Adeniyi was released by the Titans on Monday. However, he finds a soft landing spot back in Pittsburgh.

Ola Adeniyi put up multiple strong training camps and preseasons to earn his role in the NFL up to this point. The Steelers have tried to bolster their outside linebacker depth throughout the season by bringing Jamir Jones back and trading for Malik Reed. However, nothing has seemed to give them quality depth at the position. Now, Adeniyi will try to bring his aptitude to the room to improve the depth.
