Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis could be a name to watch as a potential trade target this offseason, per uSTADIUM. Could the Pittsburgh Steelers be interested?

Willis was a player that the Steelers were heavily linked to in the 2022 NFL Draft, but instead of selecting Willis, the team went with Kenny Pickett at 22nd overall. Willis ended up landing with the Tennessee Titans in the third round.

Willis never panned out in Tennessee, but he did show some progress with the Packers last season when given a chance to start. Willis completed 40 of 54 passes (74.1%) for 550 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 124.8 in the two games that he filled in for Jordan Love. The Packers won both games.

Willis was considered a project when coming out of Liberty, so slow development was expected. But the game appears to be slowing down for him. If the Packers are willing to deal Willis, he could be a quarterback option that the Steelers would pounce on. His mobility is something that Mike Tomlin really covets.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Willis counts for just $1.4 million on the cap. He wouldn’t cost much and would probably be dealt for a seventh-round pick.

Willis most likely won’t be the Steelers long-term answer at quarterback, but it could be worth a shot. The Steelers are in quarterback purgatory, so all options need to be on the table.

On Saturday, Alan Saunders provided an update on the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation. According to sources, the Steelers and Justin Fields remain far apart on a contract that would keep him from testing free agency. Coupled with Russell Wilson drawing outside interest, Monday afternoon will be a pressured one for Omar Khan and company.
