Someone Bet $1,000 on Chase Claypool Leading the NFL in Receiving Touchdowns

Chase Claypool

Someone is extremely confident in Chase Claypool this season.

One bettor at FanDuel Sportsbook has placed a $1,000 bet on Claypool to lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns in the 2021 season. The 90-1 odds would lead to a $91,000 payout if Claypool is able to pull off the feat.

The second-year Notre Dame alum showed promise as a rookie in 2020, when he hauled in nine touchdowns and scored two more on the ground. His nine receiving touchdowns led all NFL rookies in 2020, two more than Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson.

But in order for the bet to pay out, Claypool will have to top all the league’s receivers this season. Green Bay’s Davante Adams led the NFL with 18 receiving touchdowns in 2020, so this bettor is putting a lot of faith in Claypool making a big leap. Claypool joked that the bettor might be his father.

Arizona’s DeAndre Hopkins has the best odds to lead the league in receiving scores, at +750. Buffalo wide receiver Stephon Diggs is +800, Atlanta’s Calvin Ridley is +1000, and Jefferson (+1100) and Adams (+1200) round out the top five.
