The Pittsburgh Steelers will have the 21st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The draft pick was finalized after the Washington Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-20, on Sunday night in the Wild Card Round game.

The draft picks among the 14 playoff teams — picks 19 through 32 — are determined by playoff finish, and not regular-season record.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held at Lambeau Field and its adjacent Titletown District in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on April 24–26.

The last time the Steelers had the 21st overall pick in the draft was in 1990 (tight end Eric Green out of Liberty). Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann (1974), linebacker Robin Cole (1977) and defensive tackle Gabriel Rivera (1983) are the other 21st overall picks in franchise history.

With the Steelers losing in the Wild Card Round four out of the last five years, Pittsburgh has been accustomed to picking in the early 20s. The Steelers picked running back Najee Harris at 24th overall in 2020 and then selected quarterback Kenny Pickett and offensive tackle Troy Fautanu at 20th overall in 2022 and 2024.

The Steelers lost their final five games of the season and got embarrassed in the Wild Card game by the Baltimore Ravens. With the historic collapse, former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher thinks there needs to be major changes on the coaching staff and roster.

“Probably need some changes on that football team, players, coaches,” Cowher said on the CBS pregame show. “Right now, that’s going to stick with them for a long time. It’s not that they lost. It’s the manner in what they lost.”

Cowher didn’t say specifically what needs to change. But it appears Mike Tomlin will remain the team’s head coach.

Tomlin’s staff could look a lot different in 2025, however. Moving on from offensive line coach Pat Meyer and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin could be the first order of business.

The Steelers have a slew of needs in the draft. The most noteworthy needs are at wide receiver, cornerback and defensive line. The Steelers also have a major need at quarterback, but the QB class is considered weak in 2025, similar to the 2022 class with Pickett.
