Steelers Activate Chris Boswell From Injured Reserve

Pittsburgh Steelers K Chris Boswell

The Steelers have activated kicker Chris Boswell from injured reserve and released Matthew Wright from the active roster, the team announced on Saturday.

Boswell missed four games with a groin injury, but practiced on Thursday and Friday. After kicking, it seems the Steelers are comfortable with him returning to the game. He will be the team’s kicker against the Baltimore Ravens and moving forward for the rest of the season.

In the four games with the team, Wright was 12 of 14 on field goals and a perfect 7 of 7 on extra points. Both of those misses from Wright came against the New Orleans Saints in his first game with the team.

Chris Boswell returns to the lineup and is 12 of 16 on field goals this season. He is a perfect 9 of 9 on extra points for the team this season. He will have a true test to match on the other side against the Ravens with Justin Tucker on the opposite side of the field. A year ago, Boswell got the last laugh against Boswell when he kicked the Steelers into the playoffs in their 16-13 win in Baltimore.

“He’s for sure the greatest kicker of all-time,” Boswell said of Tucker. “I love playing him and Tomlin loves playing it up this week. So. anytime he gets to the 50, they are in his range. It’s always fun to compete against him.
