Steelers Afternoon Drive: Mike Tomlin Master Class in Mentorship

Steelers

Welcome to the Steelers Afternoon Drive, our new daily podcast featuring all the latest Steelers news.

The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t make a habit out of signing or otherwise adding high-profile, big name players in free agency. This year they added Patrick Peterson and Issac Seumalo in free agency and brought in Allen Robinson II via trade.

It just so happens that the team has matched up those grizzled vets with ultra-promising young players: Robinson with George Pickens, Peterson with Joey Porter Jr., and Seumalo alongside Broderick Jones.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talked about his intentionality in who faces who, matching up rookies with vets, and Alan Saunders thinks this is his best job in terms of setting the table for competition at training camp.

Alan and Zachary Smith also talked about the offensive line and how it’s shaping up after two padded practices and more in today’s episode, including how Broderick Jones is settling in at left tackle, and whether or not we could eventually see Dan Moore Jr. move over to the right side.
