Pittsburgh Steelers CB Linden Stephens

All 90 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 90 members of the Steelers 2022 offseason roster.

40 • Linden Stephens, second-year CB, Cincinnati
6-foot, 193 pounds, 27 years old

Acquired: Linden Stephens was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to their practice squad as a street free agent on Oct. 13, 2021. Re-signed for 2022.

Last season: Stephens started the 2021 offseason with the Washington Football Team, signing with that club in May. He played in three preseason games, recording five tackles. Stephens was waived by Washington after training camp on Aug. 31.

On Sept. 21, he was signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. Stephens was released by Baltimore on Oct. 4.

Stephens was not elevated from the Steelers practice squad after joining Pittsburgh on Oct. 13.

Career: Stephens joined the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2018, then bounced to the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos without appearing in a game.

After staying with Denver for training camp in 2019, Stephens was cut and signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. The Miami Dolphins signed him from Seattle’s practice squad and he played in three games with the Dolphins, recording three tackles.

Miami waived Stepehns in May of 2020, and he was claimed by Seattle. He played in 13 games for the Seahawks in 2020, making three tackles.

College: Stephens played for four seasons with the Cincinnati Bearcats, and was a three-regular in the secondary. In his senior year of 2017, he finished with 51 tackles, an interception and eight passes defended.

Camp outlook: Stephens has many veterans ahead of him on the Steelers’ depth chart at cornerback, with all top six corners from 2021 returning, except for Joe Haden, who was replaced by Levi Wallace.

Stephens could be headed for the practice squad again in 2022, as his experience around the league makes him valuable as a scout team defender.

Future: Stephens has a one-year contract with the Steelers worth $895,000 in 2022 and will be a free agent after the season.
