Steelers All 90: DE Isaiahh Loudermilk

All 90 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 90 members of the Steelers 2021 offseason roster.

92 • Isaiahh Loudermilk, rookie offensive tackle
6-foot-7, 293 pounds

Acquired: The Steelers traded a 2022 fourth-round pick to get into the 2021 fifth-round and take Loudermilk with the 156th overall pick.

College: Loudermilk made 26 starts over 40 games in his five seasons at Wisconsin, recording 63 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. As a senior, he was an all-Big Ten selection.

Camp outlook: The Steelers did not have an obvious need at defensive line entering this offseason, with starters Tyson Alualu, Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt all returning, along with backups Isaiah Buggs, Carlos Davis, Henry Mondeux and Chris Wormley.

But Alualu is 34 and Heyward is 32, and the Steelers appear to have drafted Loudermilk with an eye to the future. Loudermilk needs to add some size from his drafted weight to make an impact at defensive end for the Steelers, and with the amount of returning depth, the team has the ability to let him develop slowly.

Future: Loudermilk’s rookie contract is for four seasons, after which he’ll be an unrestricted free agent.
