All 90 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 90 members of the Steelers 2021 offseason roster.
Sam Sloman, second-year kicker
5-foot-8, 205 pounds
Acquired: Signed by the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2021.
Last season: Sloman was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Miami University in Ohio. He started the season as the Rams’ primary kicker, and played in seven games, making 8 of 11 field goals and 18 of 21 extra points.
Sloman was waived on Oct. 27 and was signed to the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad on Nov. 24. The Titans elevated him to the active roster for their final regular season game, and he made two field goals and five extra points.
College: Sloman was named an All-American as as senior in 2019 after he finished 26 of 30 on field goal attempts and hit all 34 extra points. He made four of five from beyond 50 yards.
Camp outlook: Sloman has more experience than the young backups the Steelers typically bring in to work alongside starter Chris Boswell, so he could have a better chance than most have at unseating the Steelers incumbent, but Boswell is coming off a career-best season.
Future: Sloman will be an exclusive rights free agent after the 2021 season.
