Steelers All 90: Punter Pressley Harvin III

Steelers Punter Pressley Harvin III

All 90 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 90 members of the Steelers 2022 offseason roster.

6 • Pressley Harvin III, 2nd year punter, Georgia Tech
6-foot, 255 pounds

Acquired: Drafted by the Steelers with the second of two seventh-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Last Season: Averaged 42.6 yards per punt as a rookie after being Jordan Berry in a training camp competition. Berry ended up having a better season with Minnesota, averaging 46.5 yards per punt. Harvin missed the Steelers’ Week 15 and 16 games after the death of his father.

College: The Ray Guy Award winner as the best collegiate punter in the country as a senior, Harvin led the NCAA with a 48-yards-per-kick punting average in 2020 while earning unanimous All-America honors. A four-year starter at Georgia Tech, he was also a two-time All-ACC selection. In 2019, Harvin threw a 41-yard touchdown pass as part of a fake punt call.

Camp outlook: Harvin will have to continue to prove that he should be the team’s regular punter after an up-and-down rookie season. He has a booming leg, but struggled with consistency. That’s a common problem for young players, but one he will need to clean up if the team is going to continue to show its faith in him moving forward.

Future: Harvin’s rookie contract runs through 2024, after which he’ll be an unrestricted free agent.
