All 90 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 90 members of the Steelers 2021 offseason roster.
49 • Dax Raymond, first-year tight end
6-foot-5, 255 pounds
Acquired: Signed by the Steelers as street free agent on July 20, 2020. Re-signed for 2021.
Last season: Raymond was injured in training camp, waived/injury, reverted to the team’s injured reserve and then was released with an injury settlement. He did not play for any other teams.
Career: Raymond signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie out of Utah State in 2019. He suffered a head injury in Chicago’s fourth preseason game and he was placed on the injured reserve, then later waived with an injury settlement and re-signed to Chicago’s practice squad. He finished the 2019 preseason with three catches for 22 yards.
College: At Utah State, Raymond was a two-year starter, grabbing 72 balls for 873 yards and three touchdowns in his career. He was a two-time All-Mountain West selection.
Camp outlook: Raymond enters as the No. 5 tight end on the depth chart and a spot on the practice squad appears to be his best realistic hope of sticking with the team.
Future: Raymond will be an exclusive rights free agent after the season.
