8 • Ian Berryman, rookie punter
Last year: Finished a four-year stint as the starting punter at FCS Western Carolina. Singed with the Steelers after the draft as a UDFA.
Stats: Broke the WCU all-time career punting record with a 43.8 average, but had his worst for-average season as a senior, averaging 41.4 yards per kick. He downed 16 of 38 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Accolades, Highlights:
Was selected twice as an FCS All-American and was a three-time All-Southern Conference pick.
Pro Day: Hearing that NFL scouts were very impressed with Ian Berryman workout last week. Could sneak into the late rounds, here are some punt highlights. @WCU_FB pic.twitter.com/rAwczUzN9Y

Camp outlook: Jordan Berry had a disappointing 2018 season, but he’s back with a contact with some hefty guarantees. Mike Tomlin is going to hold a legitimate competition, but Berryman will have to be demonstratively better to win it and convince the team to carry a dead cap hit.
Projected role: We project that Berry will win the battle and that Berryman will not make the team.
