Steelers All 91: QB Devlin Hodges

Published

on

All 91 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 91 members of the Steelers 2019 training camp roster.

6 • Devlin Hodges, rookie quarterback

Last year: Started his third consecutive season at Samford, an FCS school in Alabama. Joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent after participating in rookie camp on a tryout basis.

Stats: Threw for 4,265 yards on 388-of-550 passing (70.5%). Had 32 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

Accolades, Highlights:

Won the Walter Peyton Award as the top offensive player in FCS.

Camp outlook: Will provide depth in case of injury to one of the Steelers’ top three passer and also provide an extra arm for camp as Ben Roethlisberger will once again be limited in training camp participation.

At 6-foot-1, he’ll have to show he has the size and strength to be and NFL quarterback after dominating in a lower level at college.

Playing time in preseason games may be hard to come by with Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs battling for the backup job.

Projected role: The Steelers seem to like his makeup and he could make the practice squad with a strong camp performance or even catch on with another team.
