All 91 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 91 members of the Steelers 2019 training camp roster.
22 • Steven Nelson, fifth-year cornerback
Last year: Was a starting corner for the Kansas City Chiefs for the third straight season, and for the first time in his career, made all 16 starts before signing a three-year deal with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent.
Stats: Led Kansas City and was tied for seventh in the NFL with four interceptions. He also defended 15 passes and made 68 tackles — two for a loss.
Accolades, Highlights:
Played among the most snaps of any NFL cornerback in 2018.
Fun with scatter plots: This sorts all NFL CBs with at least 50 targets or eight starts in 2018 by defensive snaps played on the Y-axis and "failures" in coverage (DPIs or successful completions allowed) on the X. (cont.) pic.twitter.com/kLu6l7sVMz

Camp outlook: The big thing to watch this camp will be how quickly Nelson adjusts to a new defense and a new scheme. He was a top performer in Kansas City, so the skills are there, but with a stern test Week 1 in a trip to New England, the Steelers don’t have time for a long learning curve.
Projected role: Will start at right cornerback, opposite Joe Haden. Nelson has played both sides in the past, while Haden has primarily played left corner.
