Over the past week, the Pittsburgh Steelers have begun their roster reconstruction process. With the free agency period looming, it’s worth taking a closer look at some of the more impactful players slated to hit the market. Historically, this organization has not taken many big swings but in the midst of a seven year playoff drought, all options should be on the table. If the team wants to acquire a big name, L’Jarius Sneed belongs at the top of that list.

The 27-year old cornerback is coming off an extremely impressive 2023 campaign, one in which he notched a career high ten pass breakups without allowing a single touchdown in coverage. He’s been an integral part of Kansas City’s defensive revival of late which helped them repeat as back-to-back Super Bowl champs. Based on how development trajectory, there’s no doubt that the Chiefs would love to have him back. But with superstar defensive lineman Chris Jones’ contract also expiring, it’s far from guaranteed that they’ll break the bank on two sizable contracts in one spring.

Could the Steelers be a good match? There’s certainly a need to add talent at the cornerback spot. General manager Omar Khan did a fantastic job in his first draft in charge, acquiring Joey Porter Jr. with the first pick of the second round. The big challenge awaiting them this offseason
