Another Steelers tradition has been sidelined by COVID-19.
Two weeks after the league informed clubs that they will have to conduct training camp at their home facilities this August, the Steelers announced that they have cancelled their annual Friday Night Light practice held at Latrobe Memorial Stadium.
The #Steelers will not be hosting their annual Friday Night Lights practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. We look forward to returning to Saint Vincent College & Latrobe in 2021 for training camp. https://t.co/9JnHT5Dp7J

“We look forward to returning to Saint Vincent College & Latrobe in 2021 for training camp,” Steelers spokesperson Burt Lauten tweeted.
While the news come as no surprise considering the league’s mandate and the ongoing threat of COVID-19, it is still a bummer for fans, as the event annually provides them with an affordable opportunity to see their favorite Steelers players in an intimate setting.
The team announced last week that they are making plans to hold training camp at Heinz Field this August, likely a reaction to the league’s virus protocols released last week.
