Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. Suffers Practice Injury, Will Play Sunday
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. suffered a right calf injury during his team’s practice session at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday, but said he will be ready to play this Sunday when the Steelers host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Porter was officially listed as limited on the team’s injury report for Thursday with the calf injury, but said after practice that it won’t keep him from suiting up this week.
“Yeah, I’m playing Sunday,” Porter said.
The Steelers have been shorthanded at cornerback in practice this week. Fellow outside cornerback Levi Wallace did not practice on Wednesday with a foot injury. He was also limited in practice on Wednesday.
That left James Pierre as the other starting cornerback, opposite Patrick Peterson. Pierre also played a handful of snaps on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, while Wallace was apparently dealing with the foot injury that currently has him sidelined. Wallace’s status for this Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Acrisure Stadium is unknown.
