Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. Takes Big Step Toward Return
PITTSBURGH — Joey Porter Jr. took a bit step forward toward his return from a knee injury on Tuesday, as the Pittsburgh Steelers starting outside cornerback was a full participant at practice just 10 days after suffering a right knee sprain that threatened his season.
Porter suffered a right PCL sprain against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 21. That’s an injury that could have cost him the rest of the 2024 campaign, but 10 days later, Porter was back out there running with the full squad on Tuesday.
Fellow cornerback Cory Trice Jr. was also a full participant, and in fact was not even listed on the team’s injury report, after head coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday that he may be limited in practice this week.
Trice and James Pierre have combined to replace Porter after his injury against the Ravens and last week against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Other full participants included quarterback Justin Fields (abdominal) and wide receiver Roman Wilson (hamstring).
Running back Jaylen Warren (ribs), wide receiver Ben Skowronek (oblique), defensive tackle Logan Lee (calf) and linebacker Cole Holcomb (knee) were all limited in practice.
Holcomb, Lee and Wilson were seen performing drills for the first time with the team since their injuries.
