Steelers Coaches Workout EDGE Ronnie Perkins at Oklahoma Pro Day

The Pittsburgh Steelers were one of five teams to have coaches working out edge rusher Ronnie Perkins at Oklahoma’s pro day.

Twice named Second-Team All-Big 12, Perkins is listed at 6-foot-3, 247 pounds.

He tallied 98 total tackles, 32 tackles-for-loss and 16.5 sacks over three seasons with the Sooners.

While he was very productive over his Oklahoma career, Perkins did face his share of adversity. He was suspended for the Sooners’ College Football Playoff semifinal tilt with LSU in 2020 for reportedly failing a drug test. The suspension also kept him out of the first portion of last season.

Beyond those off field concerns, the explosive Perkins is graded as a first round talent and could be available for the Steelers at pick No. 24.

The 2021 NFL Draft gets underway Thursday, April 29 in Cleveland.
