Steelers Cut Ties with 2-Time Super Bowl Champion RB
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released two-time Super Bowl champion running back La'Mical Perine.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released two-time Super Bowl champion running back LaāMical Perine, the team announced on Tuesday.
Perine had been in his second stint with the Steelers. He first signed with the club on May 23 and spent all of training camp and the preseason in Pittsburgh. He was released in the final round of cuts.
After injuries to Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson, the Steelers re-signed Perine to their practice squad on Oct. 1. He was not elevated for a game in his stint on the practice squad.
With Warren now healthy, and Patterson likely to return to health over the teamās Week 9 bye week, Perine was no longer needed to serve as depth at the running back position.
In three preseason games with the Steelers, Perine rushed 16 times for 46 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for four yards.

A 2020 fourth-round pick of the New York Jets out of Florida, Perine has played in 17 games over four NFL seasons. He played in 14 games with the Jets in 2020 and 2021, rushing for 340 yards.
Since then, he bounced to the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs before signing with he Steelers. He played just three games in that span, all with the Chiefs, but won two Super Bowl rings as a member of the Kansas City practice squad.
