Steelers D-Line Plan Comes into Focus | Steelers Morning Rush

Steelers

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the team’s plan for how to improve along the defensive line for 2025.

That position has always been a priority, led from the top down by Andy Weidl and the team’s plan to follow the blueprint put forward by the Philadelphia Eagles, but until Sunday, it was hard to suss out exactly how it was going to come to pass.

With the Steelers signing former New England Patriots defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale on Sunday, things are coming into focus. Ekuale is a former starter for the Pats, but projects best as a rational piece. He’s the perfect type of player to be a just-in-case option if the draft does not fall according to plan.

He will also be a big upgrade on the depth options from 2024, assuming the Steelers secure a rookie like Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen or Derrick Harmon in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Alan breaks it down.
