🏈 Steve Palazzolo tabbed the Pittsburgh Steelers as the most plug-and-play QB-needy team fit for Matthew Stafford.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network revealed on the Rich Eisen Show on Friday that the Los Angeles Rams have allowed Matthew Stafford’s agent to talk to other teams to gauge his market value if a trade does occur.

Stafford and the Rams are expected to re-visit his contract this offseason after a renegotiation in 2024 left him without much in the way of guaranteed salary going forward. That contract hangup has yet to be resolved, and that continues to be the cause of uncertainty surrounding his future with the team, prompting trade rumors from around the NFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of several teams that have been linked to the 37-year-old quarterback.

“My understanding has been that the Rams have been in conversations with his agent, that they’ve also given his agent permission to talk to other clubs just to figure out, ‘Hey, if he became available, if there were a trade, what were the numbers be elsewhere?’” Pelissero told Eisen. “That takes care of multiple things. It takes care of, number one, what Matthew Stafford could get if we got to a trade because you wouldn’t be able to execute a Matthew Stafford trade without having a new deal in place, but also, it gives the Rams an idea, and Stafford an idea of, ‘Hey, we’re going to try to work together. Are we going to be able to work out a contract to keep him in L.A.?’

🏈 Former NFL defensive cooridnator Rob Ryan, who is now the assistant head coach for defense/linebackers coach at USC, believes D’Anton Lynn is the next Mike Tomlin. Lynn is a 35-year-old defensive coordinator at USC.

🏈 Colorado quarterback and potential top pick Shedeur Sanders will not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine. He plans to focus on his interviews with teams instead, but he’ll throw at his Pro Day with four draftable Colorado wide receivers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

🏈 There will be five NFL international games in 2025. The Steelers’ opponent for their game in Ireland is expected to be announced in May when the 2025 schedule is released.

🏈 Jordan Reid of ESPN thinks Florida State cornerback Azareye’h Thomas is a perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive scheme.
