The Steelers and Diontae Johnson agreed to a two-year contract extension worth over $36 million in new money that will keep Johnson in Pittsburgh through the end of the 2024 season.
Nick Farabaugh said the Steelers got a good deal, getting Johnson for an under-market per-year price without sacrificing term to do so.
After agreeing to his contract extension, Diontae Johnson said he wants to retire a Steeler.
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah is bullish on Steelers’ second-round pick George Pickens, who’s been turning heads at training camp.
“This dude is as talented as any young receiver we’ve seen come in (to the NFL). Jeremiah said. “I know the production wasn’t there, he’d been injured, but when I have people at Georgia who have been around that program forever say this kid is going to be better than A.J. Green, my ears perk up a little bit.”
ESPN recently released a list of the best players at every offensive position in NFL history, and Mike Webster was deemed the greatest center of all time. ESPN says they asked 50 experts, reporters and analysts to cast their votes.
“I gave the edge to Webster thanks to a perfect blend of championship titles, individual achievement and longevity,” Doug Clawson of ESPN Stats & Information wrote. “He is the only offensive lineman in NFL history with four Super Bowl rings and at least four first-team All-Pro selections. Iron Mike made 150 consecutive starts and had the most games played in Steelers history (220) until Ben Roethlisberger passed him.”
