Steelers Daily: Fans Protest Acrisure Stadium Name Change
A petition on Change.org protesting the Pittsburgh Steelers new deal to change the name of their North Shore home from Heinz Field to Acrisure Stadium has 1,600 signatures as of Friday morning as Steelers fans continue to show their displeasure at the change.
The tenets of the argument against the new name made by petition author Daniel Sass are that it is hard to say and that Acrisure is an out-of-town business. While some have more local ties, most of the NFL’s 30 stadiums are named for a national brand.
The deal is done, and the Steelers certainly aren’t going to return any of their $150 million, but it’s fair to wonder if the fan angst will have any real impact going forward. I’ll bet that Acrisure Stadium is just as full this fall.
