Brock Purdy seems like he will be the Pittsburgh Steelers Week 1 opponent, despite an uninspiring training camp. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has thrown 10 interceptions in training camp so far, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic. He had two interceptions in Wednesday’s practice, with another potential interception, dropped.

But 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Purdy would “have to melt in practice” to lose the 49ers starting quarterback job to former top pick Trey Lance. Lance hasn’t looked a lot better in his preseason chances.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will see Purdy and the 49ers in Week 1 at Acrisure Stadium.

🏈 Guardian caps have significantly helped with the players health and safety during training camp this season. The NFL says positions wearing Guardian caps have seen a 52% decrease in concussions.

🏈 Pro Football Network: Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Mike Hilton admitted that last year’s poor start was the result of not playing in the preseason. The starters will be playing on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons. The Steelers beat the Bengals in Week 1 last year.

🏈 YouTube TV announced that they will be introducing student plans for NFL Sunday Ticket in the next week. YouTubeTV also announced that NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers will be able to choose from an extensive assortment of multiview combinations every Sunday afternoon. An easy way to watch multiple games all at once.

🎂 Happy Birthday to former Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, born on August 17, 1979 in Riverdale, Illinois. Randle El was selected in the second round by the Steelers in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. In his nine-year career (five with the Steelers and four in Washington), Randle El recorded 370 receptions for 4,467 yards (12.2 average) and 15 touchdowns. He also returned five punts for touchdowns and had a kickoff return for a touchdown. Randel El’s most noteworthy career moment came in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XL, when he threw a game-clinching 43-yard reverse touchdown pass to Hines Ward. He was the third non-quarterback and the first and only wide receiver in NFL history to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl. Randel El is currently the Detroit Lions wide receivers coach. He was previously an offensive assistant on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl winning team in 2020.
