Former Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart surprised history teacher Lashay Powell at Northeast Magnet High School in Wichita, Kansas on Tuesday morning in honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day. Powell, a beloved history teacher who has dedicated more than two decades to education, is a diehard Steelers fan and Stewart is her favorite player of all-time.
Earlier this year, Powell’s students surprised her with a custom made Steelers jersey. The emotional video of Powell opening the gift has been viewed more than 10 million times on TikTok since it was posted on January 4. Along with being surprised by Stewart, Sheinelle Jones of the Today Show gifted Powell with two tickets to an upcoming Steelers game.

Stewart played eight seasons with the Steelers and three more with the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens. He has worked in broadcasting since his retirement.
? Pro Football Focus: Former NFL defensive back Jason McCourty thinks Cam Heyward is someone to root for as he enters his 13th season in the league.
“Heyward has been such a fun player to watch — and guy to know — over the years. He’s the definition of reliable as a key cog in Pittsburgh’s defense, recording double-digit sacks in each of the past two seasons,” McCourty wrote. “Watching him play alongside his younger brother, tight end Connor Heyward, in 2022 was a fun, new wrinkle in Heyward’s illustrious career — and something that really resonates with me, as I got to play with Devin for three years in New England.”
? Warren Sharp: The Steelers have the 13th-most expensive wide receiver room in the league, accumulating $30.7 million. The Arizona Cardinals have the most expensive wide receiver room at $52 million, while the Green Bay Packers’ wide receiving corps makes the fewest at $9.4 million.
? According to NFL Research, the Steelers have the 25th most difficult strength-of-schedule in the league in 2023. The Steelers’ 2023 opponents had a combined record of 134-151-2 (.470%) in 2022.
? Doug Farrar of USA Today is very high on the Steelers’ two rookie press coverage cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice. Last season, Porter allowed just five catches on 13 targets in press coverage for 63 yards. Trice allowed no receptions on seven targets in press in 2022.
The Steelers got two cornerbacks in this draft who are absolutely oppressive in press coverage.

? Happy 30th birthday to Steelers strong safety Miles Killebrew, born on this date, May 10, 1993 in Henderson, Nevada.
A fourth-round pick of the Detroit Lions out of Southern Utah, Killebrew came to Pittsburgh as a free agent in 2021, and has played all 32 games over the last two seasons, mostly on special teams.
