Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin broke down his darkest day as a head coach and one former teammate lauded new Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson’s ability as a mentor.

🏈 Footbahlin podcast: Mike Tomlin told Ben Roethlisberger that Ryan Shazier’s career-ending spinal cord injury in Cincinnati during the 2017 season “was probably the darkest professional” day he’s ever had. “There’s nothing worse as a coach,” Tomlin said.

🏈 Minnesota Vikings cornerback Akayleb Evans said Patrick Peterson was a great mentor for him. “@P2 Congratulations OG! You’ve been a great mentor and role model for me and it’s very much appreciated. Great things coming for you in Pittsburgh.”

🏈 Brandon Thorn of the Trench Warfare Newsletter is a big fan of the Steelers’ signing of guard Nate Herbig. “Big fan of this signing for the #Steelers. Herbig was one of my favorite depth/spot starter OL available,” Thorn tweeted.

🏈 NFL Alumni: Jerome Bettis is taking on Ed Reed in the NFL Alumni’s March Madness Twitter poll. The Bus is a No. 1 seed while the Ball Hawk is 16th seed.

🏈 The Steelers Hall of Honor Museum Artifact of the Week is the original Terrible Towel. Myron Cope’s brainchild made its debut on Dec. 27, 1975, for the Divisional Round Game between the #Steelers & Baltimore Colts.

🏈 The official NFL Twitter account posted a video of Patrick Peterson’s perfect plays while he was in Minnesota.
