Former Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark had an interesting comment on a video that showcased his bone-crushing hits from his career, most notably the ones on Wes Welker and Willis McGahee. “All of this now makes me queasy. Who lives like this?”

Clark was one of the most feared hitters in football in his career from 2002-14. He spent eight seasons with the Steelers from 20056-13, playing alongside Troy Polamalu as one of the most dominant safety tandems in the NFL.

? Pro Football Focus: Jon Macri of PFF has Steelers’ fourth-round pick Nick Herbig listed as an individual defensive player sleeper for fantasy. IDPs earn their fantasy points similar to their offensive counterparts, through recorded statistics. The most common are tackles (you can split assisted and solo or combine them), sacks, interceptions, fumble recoveries, blocked kicks, and touchdowns. Herbig is projected to be the Steelers’ No. 3 outside linebacker behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.

? FanDuel Sportsbook: Nick Herbig has +3330 odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, which is one of the highest odds among non-first-round picks.

? PFF: Despite the narrative that Dionate Johnson drops everything in sight, he had just eight drops on 141 targets last season, according to PFF.

? ESPN: Former Steelers wide receiver James Washington is visiting the New Orleans Saints on Monday.
The former second-round pick dealt with foot injury with Dallas last season but is healthy now. Washington had promising moments in Pittsburgh with 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns from 2018-21.

? PFF thinks running back Jaylen Warren is the most underrated player on the Steelers.

“Warren was one of the most efficient pass catchers out of the backfield in 2022. The undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State was one of 45 RBs last season to see at least 30 targets in the passing game and among that group, he ranked fourth with a 79.8 receiving grade. Additionally, he ranked second by converting 43.8 percent of his catchable targets into either a first down or touchdown,” William Moy of PFF wrote.

? Former Steelers punter Dan Stryzinski was born on this date in 1965 in Vincennes, Ind. The former Indiana Hoosier played with eight teams in his 16-year NFL career, most notably with the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons. Stryzinski punted for the Steelers from 1990 -91.

? On this date in 1998, college personnel director Tom Modrak left the Steelers to become the Philadelphia Eagles director of football operations. With his new role in Philadelphia, Modrak made more than double his salary with the Steelers. Modrak, 55, received a reported $300,000 annually from the Eagles after earning $140,000 a year in Pittsburgh. Modrak spent 20 years with the Steelers organization and was recognized throughout the NFL as one of the league’s best talent scouts.

? TodayInSports on Twitter posted a highlight reel of Jerome Bettis’ legendary runs.
