Daily Links: Rooney on New D.C. Owner, Steelers a Year Away?
Pro Football Focus believes the Pittsburgh Steelers are still a year away from the playoffs.
“I wouldn’t dare predict the great Mike Tomlin to finish below .500 during a regular season, but I do think the Steelers are another year away from being playoff contenders again,” Trevor Sikkema of PFF wrote. “Then-rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett was fantastic last season. From Week 10 on, the only quarterback with a higher passing grade than Pickett was Joe Burrow. On top of that, George Pickens is a star in the making. I also loved the Steelers’ 2023 NFL Draft class, but it’s hard to say all of those additions will pan out early on. Overall, it’s a good roster with star power on defense and young guys to get behind on offense. I think the Steelers are close, just a year away.”
? Steelers president Art Rooney II spoke highly of Josh Harris and his potential future as the Washington Commanders majority owner. In 2020, Harris bought a stake of less than 5%, worth approximately $140 million, in the Steelers. According to an NFL spokesperson, Harris is selling his share of the Steelers and is in the middle of a new transaction.
“Josh is a good man” Rooney told Darren M. Haynes of WUSA9 at the Spring League Meeting in Minneapolis. “I think he will be a good owner in the league. He has been a good partner.”
