? According to Over the Cap and the NFLPA public salary cap report, Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich’s one-year contract is for the league minimum of $1.21 million.

The Steelers signed Matakevich to a one-year contract on Wednesday. Matakevich is a familiar face to the Steelers, as he was the team’s seventh-round selection out of Temple in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons in Pittsburgh before playing the last four with the Buffalo Bills.

? Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens called out former Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley for being a product of nepotism. Owens said he believes Haley only got NFL jobs because of his dad. Haley was the wide receiver coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 2004 to 2006, where he coached Owens.

“You have people who don’t even have a lot of experience and they jump up to offensive coordinators,” Ownes said during an appearance on the Bubba Dub podcast hosted by Jerry Bubba. “Sometimes, for some people, you gradually work your way up. Some people do, some people don’t, because of relationships. “There was a guy, Todd Haley, that I got coached by in Dallas,” he said. “And then he went on to Pittsburgh, he only got those jobs because of his dad. He wasn’t the best receiving coach I ever had, but he got that job.”

Haley’s dad, Dick Haley, was the Steelers director of player personnel from 1971-1990.

? Colin Cowherd of FS1 ranked Mike Tomlin as the fifth-best head coach in the NFL.

? Mark Kaboly of The Athletic thinks the Steelers could include Alex Highsmith or Dan Moore Jr. in a trade package for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

“[Highsmith] is the one guy that would be sort of interesting,” Kaboly said. “A pass rusher that they need, [and] maybe throw a Dan Moore Jr. in there. Maybe you go that route.”

? Steelers rookie offensive tackle Troy Fautanu showed off his receiving skills during an offseason workout.

? On this day in 1932, Daniel M. Rooney was born.
