Steelers Daily: Pickens Climbing OROY Odds, Tomlin’s Top Coaches

Steelers WR George Pickens

The betting markets are starting to notice the strong training camp from Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, head coach Mike Tomlin listed his top NFL coaches and more in Steelers Now Daily.

? Steelers Camp Takeaways: Kenny Pickett is preparing for a bigger role in the Steelers second preseason game.

? Jaylen Warren is getting some special attention at training camp this week after a fumble in the first preseason game.

? Andy Weidl brings NFL experience and Pittsburgh values to the Steelers’ assistant general manager role.

? Steelers Injury Updates: Isaiahh Loudermilk left practice with a rib injury. Derek Watt and Marcus Allen returned to action.

? Najee Harris is healthy, but he won’t play on Saturday.

? Minkah Fitzpatrick is no longer the https://twitter.com/AaronWilson_NFL/status/1559903568446083072″>highest

paid safety in the NFL, as the Los Angeles Chargers agreed to a four-year, $76.4 million deal with Derwin James on Wednesday. James’ annual average is $19.1 million, which trumps Fitzpatrick’s $18.4 million average. Nick Farabaugh says the Steelers made out by getting Fitzpatrick signed early.

? T.J. Watt said on https://twitter.com/thepivot/status/1559575023064559616″>The

Pivot Podcast that he wants people to truly understand how great his brother J.J. was in his prime. Watt also shared an https://twitter.com/Realrclark25/status/1559714777814876160″>interesting

story about how he almost quit football in college because of multiple knee injuries.

? Najee Harris also revealed on the The Pivot Podcast that he and Nick Saban bumped heads a lot at Alabama. “I’m not the type of dude to sit back and just let somebody talk to me in a way and expect me not to say something,” Harris said.

? George Pickens has garnered a lot of national attention following his big preseason performance against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night. According to Max Meyer of Caesars Sportsbook, Pickens ranked No. 14 in tickets and No. 8 in handle (or odds) for Offensive Rookie of the Year one week ago. Now, Pickens has received the third-most tickets, and his odds have shot up to fifth-shortest at +1200 — tied with Garrett Wilson of the New York Jets, Skyy Moore of the Kansas City Chiefs and Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints.

Sports announced that Ian Eagle, Charles Davis and Evan Washburn will call the Steelers-Bengals Week 1 game.

to Dan Graziano of ESPN, sources close to the Deshaun Watson situation believe a resolution could come on Thursday. Watson is currently facing a six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, but Rodger Goodell is pushing for a year-long suspension. Graziano says recent talks between the NFL and Watson’s reps have heightened hope that they can reach a settlement without Peter C. Harvey having to rule on it.

? Mike Tomlin said on the “I Am Athlete” podcast that his top 5 coaches in the NFL are (in no order) — Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, Brian Flores, Raheem Morris and Andy Reid. Tomlin said Bill Belichick and John Harbaugh need no endorsement from him. For context, Brandon Marshall asked the question as if he was a young general manager and was looking for five coaches to go after.

? NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger is concerned about Steelers’ right guard James Daniels. “He doesn’t look like the same player that came out of Iowa to me,” Baldinger said on 93.7 The Fan. “He doesn’t look like he has the same power. He was a center in Iowa. I thought he was a really good center because of his movement. But then he played guard because he had good power. But I’m not sure I’m seeing either one of those right now.” According to Pro Football Focus, Daniels surrendered two pressures and was beaten another two times (not resulting in pressure) on just 10 pass-blocking snaps in Saturday night’s preseason game.
