analyst Scott Kacsmar doesn’t think Mitch Trubisky is an upgrade over the 2020-21 form of Ben Roethlisberger. According to Kacsmar, Trubisky’s average touchdown pass is 13.6 yards, the shortest in NFL history among the 221 quarterbacks to throw 50+ touchdown passes. Kacsmar also examined every instance of a Hall of Fame (or in the discussion) quarterback in the salary cap era and what his team did without him for that first season. He found that In 15 seasons, those teams missed the playoffs 13 times and had a losing record 11 times. The 1995 Chiefs (Steve Bono) and 2000 Dolphins (Jay Fielder) were the two quarterbacks who led their respective teams to the playoffs.
