BALTIMORE — Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward left the team’s Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens late the in the fourth quarter with a lower-body injury.
Heyward was attended to on the field twice in the game’s final two minutes, the first after running down a JK Dobbins run, and the second after a Lamar Jackson pass on the final Baltimore drive.
He was replaced by second-year backup Henry Mondeaux, who was playing his second career game. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not give an update on Heyward’s status after the game.
“I don’t have the details,” Tomlin said. “It was a cramp the first time he went down, I’m not sure what it was the second time.”
The Steelers had already been playing without starting nose tackle Tyson Alualu, who suffered a knee injury in the first quarter, and backup defensive lineman Chris Wormley, who was put on the injured reserve list earlier in the wee with a knee injury suffered against the Tennessee Titans.
