Steelers Draft Digest: Jordan Addison Top WR, Kiper Mocks Porter to Pittsburgh

Jordan Addison

Jordan Addison is ranked as the top receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft and Joey Porter Jr. lands with the Steelers in a big-time mock draft.

🏈: In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. believes the Steelers will draft Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. He is not the first to do that prediction, but from him, that is an especially compelling projection. A legacy and Penn State standout, Porter Jr. will be linked to the Steelers all draft season.

“Porter is an aggressive 6-foot-2 corner who was a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions,” Kiper wrote. “He picked off just one pass in his career, but he had 11 pass breakups in 2022, so he gets his hands on the football when it’s headed in his direction.”

🏈: The Senior Bowl setup is getting in motion as the crews in Mobile prepare the players’ hotel for their arrival early next week. Practice jerseys have already been revealed for the players, as well. The event will take place from Tuesday to Thursday next week with the game on Saturday.

🏈: Dane Brugler revealed his Top 15 players at each position on Tuesday, and it came with plenty of interesting results. But the most notable was at receiver, where he has USC and former Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison as the top receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft. That has him over Quentin Johnston and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Will the Steelers draft board be the same way? That would remain to be seen, but given Brugler’s rankings are based partly on what he is hearing, that is something to watch.

🏈: Nick Korte of Over the Cap did his final compensatory picks projections, and he does not expect the Steelers to land any compensatory picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. That would not be surprising given how active the Steelers were in free agency. However, they are still slated to carry four Top-100 picks heading into the draft.

🏈: The NFLPA Bowl is underway, as it enters its second day of practice in Pasadena on Wednesday. That includes some standouts, including Pitt defensive end Deslin Alexandre. The game will take place on Saturday.
