Steelers Draft: Two Top Cornerbacks to Visit Pittsburgh
The Steelers draft brass will host highly-touted cornerbacks Emmanuel Forbes and Tyrique Stevenson for Top-3o pre-draft visits, according to multiple reports.
The reports come on the heels of the Steelers draft personnel still hitting the pro day trail hard while Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan are tied up in league meetings in Arizona. As it stands, these are the first two cornerbacks to be revealed in the Top-30 list, with interest being heavily shown in others.
Forbes is a standout cornerback out of Mississippi State. He has been mocked by the Steelers multiple times in mock drafts, though his frame standing at only 170 pounds is a worry. Still, as reported by https://twitter.com/JonSokoloff/status/1640753003740233740?s=20″>Jon
Sokoloff of WCBI News, the Steelers will host him for a visit. His dynamite ball skills and playmaking ability are just what Pittsburgh seems to be looking for, so the move would not be that shocking.
Meanwhile, Stevenson is an interesting player. He was arguably the best cornerback at the Senior Bowl two months ago, so the Steelers saw him up close and personal. Stevenson will have visits with the Ravens and Cowboyshttps://twitter.com/MikeCugnoCBS4/status/1640777969701474304?s=20″>
as well according to Mike Cugno of CBS Miami. However, the Steelers will like his athleticism and length. Stevenson was a teammate of George Pickens during his two seasons at Georgia before he transferred to Miami.
“He’s the hardest receiver I ever guarded, because you don’t know what you’re going to get from George. He has the speed to run by you but also has the willingness to get inside and do whatever he needs to, and his catch rate is amazing. So you’ve got to play him full throttle all the time,” Stevenson said of Pickens.
Regardless, both players had formals at the NFL Combine with the Steelers as well. It stands to be likely that the Steelers will look at the cornerback positon up and down throughout the NFL Draft process and move forward.
