Current Pittsburgh Steelers director of pro scouting Sheldon White has caught the interest of the Las Vegas Raiders for the general manager opening.

The Steelers are officially in offseason mode along with the other 24 eliminated franchises in the league. As the offseason progresses, teams will be experiencing turnover at key positions in their organization. According to reports, Las Vegas has requested to interview Steelers executive Sheldon White.

White currently serves as the team’s director of pro scouting, taking over a similar role Brandon Hunt held until his departure in 2022. Hunt departed the organization after the hire of Omar Khan as general manager and now serves as the senior director of scouting for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was drafted in the 1988 NFL draft in the third-round by the New York Giants and played in the NFL until 1993. He played defensive back for the Giants, Lions, and Bengals en route to 11 career interceptions.

White began his scouting career with the Detroit Lions and worked under former Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert from 1997 until 1999 when Colbert was hired by the Steelers. White was promoted to Director of Pro Personnel and was eventually named Interim General Manager in 2015.

After departing from Detroit in 2016, the former Miami of Ohio Redhawk joined Michigan State as the Executive Director of Play Personnel and Recruiting. He spent a season with the Washington Commanders before joining the Steelers in 2022.

The Steelers more than likely will grant this permission as it would be an opportunity for White to advance and resume a role he previously served in.
