AT STAKE

The out-of-conference games aren’t necessarily as impactful, but the Steelers don’t have many spare games in their slim hopes to make a playoff spot, and they’re all important in that regard.

TRANSACTIONS

The Steelers activated DE DeMarvin Leal from the injured reserve list and added CB Ahkello Witherspoon to the injured reserve list. They also re-signed DT Renell Wren to the practice squad and released WR Josh Malone.

INJURY REPORT

OLB T.J. Watt (ribs) and OLB Malik Reed (back) are both questionable. Alex Highsmith with certainly start at one outside linebacker spot. Jamir Jones and Leal are the candidates to fill in if either Watt or Reed can’t go. ILB Robert Spillane can also play outside linebacker.

FROM THE OTHER SIDE

There’s been a bit of deja vu for the Falcons, as they sit at 5-7. That’s the same place they were after 12 games last year. In fact, they have the exact same record they’ve had at the same point in the season for every week since Game 5.

“I believe we’re a much better team,” coach Arthur Smith said. “We’re a pretty disciplined team – knock on wood, we don’t get a lot of penalties, don’t have a lot of mental errors … I feel like we’re executing a lot better. We’ve made a lot more progress in a lot of key areas that have given us a chance situationally, but (the losses are) the end result.”
