Steelers First and 10: Finding Some Answers
The questions that were brought about regarding tragic accident that took the life of Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins earlier this month are starting to have answers.
Audio from a 911 call released on Wednesday contained Kalabrya Haskins explaining to the emergency operator that Haskins had run out of gas and was walking to get gas when he was hit and killed by a dump truck on Interstate 595 in Florida.
Furthermore, a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol said that Haskins was struck while in the center westbound lane of the six-lane highway. Their investigation will continue, but it now seems clear that Haskins was in the middle of crossing the interstate when he was hit after his car ran out of gas.
Clarity about the cause doesn’t make his death at 24 years of age any less tragic, and listening to the frantic 911 calls is heart-wrenching, but hopefully can provide some closure to the situation and end the irresponsible speculation about what led to the accident.
