With the Steelers headed to Atlanta for the preseason finale, there are some big organizational decisions on deck. While most of the starting positions are set in stone, there are several sizable roles still up for grabs. Head Coach Mike Tomlin indicated that the teams starters will once again see some playing time, which only adds to the intrigue. As players make their final petition for the 53-man roster, here are five players worth keeping a close eye on for various reasons.
Broderick Jones
When the Steelers traded up in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they made a gigantic, traits-based bet on Broderick Jones. The rookie has seen a plethora of reps through his first two preseason games with encouraging but inconsistent results. While his physical demeanor and jarring power made for a relatively easy translation to the NFL level, it was obvious that he had work to do before he was reliable in pass protection. His pass pro mechanics still need a good amount of refinement, particularly his hand usage and body posture.
