Former Steelers cornerback Arthur Maulet is always a guy who played with a chip on his shoulder. A little undersized and the team’s run-down slot cornerback, Maulet is a fiery player who brings energy and remembers when anyone has wronged him. Maulet was released back in May. After, he and the Steelers had a contract dispute, causing Maulet to ask for his release. Seemingly, Maulet asked for more money, and Pittsburgh did not oblige.

“I’m a vet, year No. 7,” Maulet told Ravens.com. “I just wanted a little something, a little security. I think I earned that. Baltimore gave me that, which was surprising that it was a rivalry team. Obviously, they believe in me. That just makes me feel good about the work I put in this offseason.”

In Week 5, the Steelers will welcome the Ravens and Maulet to Acrisure Stadium. Even before the season starts, Maulet has his eye on October 8th. It is the chance for Maulet to show that Pittsburgh made the wrong decision by not giving him what he asked for in May. His addition to the team will naturally add some extra fire to a rivalry that always has plenty of spunk in it.

“It’s circled on my calendar for sure,” Maulet said.

Pittsburgh added Chandon Sullivan and Desmond King to the slot cornerback room. Elijah Riley stepped up to fill Maulet’s void, making the 53-man roster. Regardless, there is little doubt that Maulet brought quality play in his niche position in the Steelers secondary.

Maulet racked up one interception, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and 106 tackles in his tenure with the team. Those numbers might not flash off the screen, but Maulet’s availability and consistent level of play allowed Pittsburgh to trust him and what he could bring to the table. But now, they must deal with that from the other side.
