Steelers Future Watch: Draft Targets if No WR2 Emerges in 2024

After sending Diontae Johnson to Carolina, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to get a front row seat to see if George Pickens is WR1 material. Even though I’m pretty bullish on his ability to thrive in that role, the secondary playmaker spot is still a huge question mark. Due to another needs taking precedent, they weren’t able to grab a receiver until the third round of the NFL Draft. Right now, there’s more questions than answers about this group.

Is Roman Wilson ready for a bigger workload than he saw in college? As we inch towards the regular season, will there be a viable upgrade available via trade? There’s a good chance that this hole may exist until next offseason, where there are several talented wide receiver options that should be available come draft time. Just like with running backs, we’ll take a look at a several of the top 2025 NFL draft eligible prospects and break down what they do well, where they can improve and what to expect from them this fall.
