Steelers Get Injury Timeframe for OLB Alex Highsmith
Pittsburgh Steelers Injury Updates: The team has a timeframe for the recovery of outside linebacker Alex Highsmith and his ankle injury.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a timeframe for the injury that starting outside linebacker Alex Highsmith suffered on Monday against the Washington Commanders.
Highsmith is having an MRI on Monday to determine the seriousness of the ankle injury, which occurred when he stepped on the foot of Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels in the fourth quarter of what became a 28-27 Steelers win on Sunday.
Highsmith rolled his left ankle on the play. He was seen in the Steelers locker room after the game with a set of crutches, but was not forced to wear a cast, boot or protective brace on his ankle at that point.
According to a report by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday, Highsmith is expected to miss two or three weeks.
After this week’s AFC North opener with the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers will then have a short week before visiting the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football. Those two games seem off the table for Highsmith, with a return expected either in Week 13 on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals or, more likely Week 14 at home against the Cleveland Browns.
