Steelers Haden, Nix, Pouncey Did Not Practice, Others Limited

The Steelers returned to practice at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Wednesday to turn the page forward to this Sunday’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Well, some of them did.

The Steelers released a 10-player injury report on Wednesday evening.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (coaches decision), cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder), fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) and center Maurkice Pouncey (ankle) did not practice.

Haden, Nix and Pouncey were injured against the Patriots. Head coach Mike Tomlin expects Nix to miss the Seattle game and possibly more, while he was optimistic about the chances of Haden and Pouncey.

Free safety Sean Davis (ankle), wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) and outside linebacker T.J. Watt (hip) were limited participants in practice.

Davis was injured in the third preseason and did not play against New England. Smith-Schuster and Watt were injured agains the Patriots. Tomlin put all three in the same “optimistic” category as Haden and Pouncey.

Backup tackle Zach Banner (illness), running back James Conner (illness) and strong safety Terrell Edmunds (glute) were listed as limited participants with new issues.
