Steelers Have NFL’s Easiest Travel Schedule in 2022
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the NFL’s easiest travel schedule in the 2022 season, according to research by Bill Speros of Bookies.com.
The Steelers are the only team that will not cross a time zone boundary this season and will travel the fewest miles at 6,442, despite playing nine road games for the first time in team history.
The team will play at AFC North rivals Baltimore, Cincinnati and Cleveland, Atlanta and Carolina from the NFC South, Buffalo and Miami from the AFC East, and fellow second-place finishers Indianapolis and Philadelphia.
The rest of the AFC North also has relatively light travel schedules, as the Ravens have the third-fewest miles traveled with 9,500, the Browns the fourth-fewest miles at 9,986 and the Bengals the sixth-fewest at 10,836.
The Steelers played nine home games in 2021, the first season the NFL played under a 17-game regular-season schedule. They will alternate between eight and nine road games going forward.
The NFL’s travel schedules are set by a predetermined formula. After a light travel schedule in 2022, the Steelers will travel to the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and a team from the AFC West in 2023.
The full 2022 NFL schedule will be released next Thursday. The team’s 2022 opponents can be found here.
