Steelers Have Purpose for Shedeur Sanders Visit

Shedeur Sanders is visiting Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. The Colorado quarterback’s 2025 NFL Draft stock is tough to read, but Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio doesn’t believe that the meeting between the two parties is a Steelers bluff.
The Steelers are covering all the bases as they prepare to make the No. 21 selection in the order later this month. In a scenario where Cleveland (No. 2), the New York Giants (No. 3), and New Orleans (No. 9) pass on Sanders, he falls into Pittsburgh’s lap.
“I don’t regard the Steelers as a team that plays games when it comes to misdirections,” Florio said during a Wednesday appearance on 93.7 The Fan’s “The PM Team”. “‘We’ll bring in the guys we’re not interested in, we’ll ignore the guys that we have no interest in.’ When you consider they didn’t meet with Shedeur at the scouting combine, Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin didn’t go to the pro day workout, I think they have to be ready in the event that Shedeur is there at 21.
“I don’t know that they would trade up to get him, and I don’t know that they’ll pounce on (a) guy who falls to them in the low-20s again like they did with Kenny Pickett.”

The Steelers took Pickett No. 20 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. They traded him to Philadelphia last offseason after two seasons in Pittsburgh. Now, he’ll suit up for the Browns this coming season.
Shedeur anders operated the Buffaloes’ offense the past two go-rounds, displaying an admirable toughness while effectively slinging the ball.
“I feel like the Steelers have always been, that 21 spot has always been kind of the floor for Sanders because I think somebody would try to cut the line in front of the Steelers before they could take him, if he slips past the Saints at No. 9.”
